State trooper hits pedestrian south of Oak Creek in Eagle County
Pedestrian sustained 'moderate' injuries
A Colorado State Trooper struck a pedestrian Friday night at the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and Edwards Access Road in Eagle County, according to law enforcement officials.
The trooper had the right of way at a green light when his patrol car struck a 38-year-old man who was crossing the road, said State Trooper Alisha Danko.
The pedestrian was transported to Vail Valley Medical Center and is being treated for moderate injuries, Danko said.
“The patrol car was eastbound on Highway 6. He was slowing down to check on another trooper on a traffic stop,” Danko said, adding that the pedestrian was suspected of having alcohol in his system.
State patrol is not releasing the names of the pedestrian or the trooper involved in the matter.
The intersection of Highway 6 and Edwards Access Road is located roughly an hour south of Oak Creek and about 20 minutes west of Vail.
