— The Steamboat Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who robbed a ski shop in Gondola Square early Friday morning.

The robbery at Steamboat Ski and Sport was reported Friday morning by Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. security.

Police found the suspect got into the store by breaking the glass in the main entryway door.

Detective Josh Carrell said the suspect made three trips into the store and stole about $6,000 worth of items, including GoPro cameras and goggles. The suspect went into an enclave to put the items into a large backpack, and the suspect then walked away toward the Truffle Pig restaurant.

The burglary took place between 1:55 and 2:15 a.m. Friday.

Black-and-white video surveillance footage provided some clues, but the suspect’s face was not visible.

Police are looking for anyone who knows someone who has been trying to sell the cameras or goggles. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 970-879-1090.

Those who want to remain anonymous can call Routt County Crime Stoppers at 970-870-6226.
