Craig Parks and Recreation’s Gravy Train 5K takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Craig’s Loudy-Simpson Park.

Admission is $5 per person or a donation of five non-perishable food items. All ages are welcome, with prizes for top finishers across multiple categories. Runners are also encouraged to attend in costume.

A jaunt around the landscape offers a brisk and sometimes bracing experience — depending on the weather — amid the late autumn setting of Moffat County.

The temperature might be less than agreeable some years, but the people who join in this event — now in its sixth year — are turkeys, not chickens.

If you like the setting in a competitive atmosphere, you might just want to walk the grounds all over again in a more relaxed atmosphere as part of your holiday — if for no other reason than to be thankful for the warmth of your home.
