Coroner releases name of man who died in crash

Matt Stensland

— Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg on Tuesday identified the man who died in a North Routt County car crash last week as James Kemper.

Ryg said Kemper was a quiet man who kept to himself. Kemper’s mother and two brothers live in the Denver area.

Kemper was driving east on Seedhouse Road when his truck went off the road and crashed down an embankment along the Elk River. According to Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened during the early morning hours Thursday. Joggers discovered the crash in the afternoon.

The Patrol, which was still investigating the crash, said alcohol impairment is suspected as a contributing factor.
