The city of Steamboat Springs will not be purchasing the Copper Ridge parkland parcel after a competing buyer entered into a contract to purchase the property, according to a news statement released by the city on Tuesday.

The news release noted that the city had been working over the past 13 months toward acquiring the Copper Ridge parcel in an effort to meet growing demand for parkland and recreational amenities.

The effort included gaining donor support to help secure $19.9 million in funding for the purchase, plus an additional $1.5 million for trail planning and development, according to the news release.

“In addition, the city was actively finalizing a contract with the seller and had site visits scheduled for donors, partners, and community leaders this week.” the release added.
