Contractor injured on job

Pilot & Today Staff

A contractor working at a construction site on Twentymile Coal Mine’s property reportedly injured his hand Wednesday.

The man was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon, but the extent of his injuries is not known, said Ron Spangler, manager of human resources for Twentymile.

He was not an employee of Twentymile.

Spangler could not release the man’s name but said he was working for a construction company working at the site.

The injuries did not appear to be life threatening, Spangler said.

Spangler said the man was helping erect a steel structure in an open area on the coal company’s permitted property.
