Construction plans updated

Scott Contracting work to affect both ends of Lincoln this week; access to some side streets restricted

Zach Fridell

— Construction is continuing this week on both ends of Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat Springs, restricting access to 13th Street and some side streets.

The construction zone is expected to stretch from Sixth Street to Third Street on the north side of Lincoln Avenue, and from 11th Street to 13th Street on the south side, according to a project update from Scott Contracting’s Jody Patten.

Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to cross only at Fifth, Seventh or Ninth streets and avoid going through the construction zones.

Turns through the construction zone will again be limited. Eastbound drivers can turn north, toward Oak Street, only from Seventh to Ninth streets. An officer will direct traffic at Seventh Street. Westbound drivers also can turn north at 10th, 11th and 12th streets.

Eastbound drivers can turn right toward Yampa Street at Ninth through Fifth streets, and westbound drivers can turn left toward Yampa Street at Fifth, Seventh and Ninth streets.

Bus stops will continue near Fifth, Seventh, Ninth and 11th streets along Lincoln Avenue.

The paving and improvement project will continue through June but will be suspended during July and August, for the height of summer tourism season. After the summer suspension, work will resume on Sept. 7 and must be completed by Nov. 18.

The final public meeting about the project, with representatives from the Colorado Department of Transportation and Scott Contracting, is at 5:30 p.m. June 17 at Centennial Hall on 10th Street.
