Concerts to benefit children

Jennie Lay
Who: Blue Rooster What: First concert in Oak Creek Free Concert Series When: 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday Where: Decker Park in Oak Creek Cost: Free

The sounds of classic rock will kick off the Oak Creek free summer concert series Saturday. Blue Rooster is headlining the afternoon show along with guest appearances from several local musicians.

South Routt Recreation Association, the group that helped build Oak Creek’s ice rink and batting cages, is hosting three free concerts at Decker Park in Oak Creek this summer. The group will sell beverages to concert-goers to raise money for an Oak Creek recreation center

While the concerts provide immediate summer fun for the community, music lovers will be helping to support long-term entertainment for teens because the association’s first priority is to build a teen center in Oak Creek.

The next two concerts are Aug. 7 and Sept. 4, with bands yet to be announced.
