Community invited to celebrate public lands with speakers, specially brewed beer

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — In celebration of Colorado Public Lands Day, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council will host an informal networking event at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Mountain Tap Brewery, 910 Yampa St.

State Rep. Dylan Roberts will be at the event to provide updates on recent statewide public lands, climate action and other environmental legislation. Sustainability Council Executive Director Sarah Jones and Routt County Commissioner Tim Corrigan also will speak about the importance of public lands. Speakers will start at 5:15 p.m.

More than 35% of Colorado’s land area is public land, and public lands make up 50% of Routt County. Throughout Colorado, these public lands generate $34 billion in consumer spending.

For the third year in a row, Mountain Tap has brewed a special beer for the occasion called “Get Out!” The Belgian farmhouse-style saison made with Colorado-grown malted barley and wheat will be on tap for Colorado Public Lands Day and all summer long while supplies last.
