Commercial Yampa River operation permits must be requested by March 1

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — All businesses renewing their annual commercial operation permit and any new business interested in applying for commercial operations on the Yampa River for 2019 must contact the Parks and Recreation Department by 11:30 a.m. March 1.

In addition, each operator will need to submit a detailed business plan, which should include safety plans, daily numbers, times and areas of use and also demonstrate understanding of commercial guidelines and city planning codes.

Operators should be prepared to discuss their plan and answer questions, if necessary. For a business that was grandfathered into the plan with specific uses, any new proposed use is required to be approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Requests made after the March 1 deadline will not be considered.

Commercial use guidelines from the Yampa River Management Plan are available at and should be reviewed prior to submitting a request.

On March 13, the Parks and Recreation Commission will be reviewing all commercial operations and requests for business on the Yampa River in town. Any business with annual permit approvals will need to renew for this season and should plan on attending the commission meeting and be prepared to answer any questions.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall, 124 10th St.
