Colorado State Patrol steps up Memorial Day enforcement

This Memorial Day weekend, Colorado State Patrol troopers in Troop 4B will be working saturation patrols in Routt, Moffat and Grand counties with a focus on detecting and deterring drivers impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.

Last year, 15 people lost their lives in traffic crashes in these counties alone. To date in 2016, four crashes have claimed the lives of five people in Northwest Colorado, and all these deaths had a contributing factor of no seat belt use.

To date, 170 people have lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in Colorado this year. These deaths can be prevented.

The state patrol reminds motorists to have a safe summer travel season by buckling up, driving defensively and driving sober.
