Class notes: Upcoming courses are announced for CNCC

Colorado Northwestern Community College is offering a digital photography class with instructor Greg Pieraccini. This short course, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Hayden High School, will cover all the basics of digital photography. The cost is $40 and the registration deadline is Monday.

CNCC also is holding a workshop called contemporary consumer issues. Students will explore the consumer’s role in the economy and learn about consumer protection. The class, taught by Sara Magas will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 10 and 12 at the Hayden Public Library. The cost is $40 and the registration deadline is Monday.

3 Whiteman graduates named to dean’s list

Colorado College in Colorado Springs last week announced its dean’s list for the 2009-10 academic year. Among them were three graduates of The Lowell Whiteman School.

Named to the dean’s list were Natalie E. Findell, daughter of Lee Findell and Beth Findell and Doug Matthews; James A. Horner III, son of Sandra and James Horner; and Scott Ventrudo, son of Nancy and Kevin Ventrudo. To make the dean’s list, students must maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.75 while carrying a full class load for the entire year.



Findell, Horner III and Ventrudo also all graduated as part of the spring Class of 2010.

Harris named to Phillips Academy spring honor roll

Marilyn N. Harris, of Steamboat Springs, was named to the spring term honor roll at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass.

To be named to the honor roll, students must maintain at least a 5-point GPA on a 6-point scale. Harris is a junior.

Routt County natives earn UNC academic distinctions

Five Routt County natives were named to the dean’s list or dean’s honor roll for the 2009-10 academic year at the University of Northern Colorado.

To make the dean’s list, students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.75 two of three semesters while completing a minimum of 24 credit hours. To make the dean’s honor roll, students must maintain a GPA between 3.5 and 3.74 while taking that many credit hours.

The students who were named to the dean’s list are: Lindsey Schlingman, of Hayden; and Torie Christensen, of Steamboat Springs.

The students who were named to the dean’s honor roll are: Mikal Achtner, of Oak Creek; Christopher Hansen, of Steamboat; and Leigh Thielen, of Steamboat.
