Class Notes for June 22

Kimberly Rossi of the Soroco FFA was named Colorado Star in Agricultural Placement at the 80th Colorado FFA Convention June 3 to 5 in Sterling. Rossi received a plaque, a medal and $1,300. Kimberly is the daughter of Dean and Susan Rossi. Byron Dean is her agriculture teacher and FFA adviser.

Rossi won the award by excelling in a placement supervised agricultural experience program.

Soroco grad Erin Arthur receives doctorate

Erin Arthur graduated from the University of Colorado Medical Center on May 23, 2008. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and will be doing her residency in Anchorage, Alaska.

Dr. Arthur is the daughter of Doug and Beth Redmond of Durango, the granddaughter of Dean and Roberta Redmond of Grand Junction, and George and Jan Eide of Littleton.

She is a 1998 graduate of Soroco High School and a 2002 graduate of Mesa State College in Grand Junction.

Ashley Lopez awarded Partners Scholarship

Ashley Lopez has been awarded the Daniels Scholarship, Partners in Routt County announced this week. The award is given by the youth mentoring organization to students who require financial assistance to attend college and who have demonstrated strength of character, a well-rounded personality and a record of accomplishment in giving back to the community.

Steamboat students excel in Wyoming

Steamboat students Paul Jansen and Trustin Thompson were named to the honor roll at the University of Wyoming for the spring semester. Students are named to the honor roll if they earn a 3.25 GPA or better in their first year, and a 3.4 or higher after their freshman year.
