Strawberry Park book fair starts this week
Strawberry Park Elementary School is hosting a Spring Book Fair from Thursday to April 19 in the school’s media center. The fair is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for Saturday, when it is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair ends at 3 p.m. April 19.
Local grad recognized as a top student at UNC
Faculty at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley have named Daniel Brenner of Steamboat Springs one of the top students in the university’s math department. Brenner, son of Ken and Pamela Brenner, received the honor April 2 at the university’s Honors Convocation.
Brenner is a senior at UNC majoring in mathematics secondary education. He graduated as valedictorian from Steamboat Springs High School in 2003.
After-prom committee seeking donations

Hayden’s after-prom committee is seeking donations for Hayden High School’s fifth annual after-prom party, scheduled for April 29. The party at the Routt County Fairgrounds exhibit hall is designed to keep local students and the community safe on prom night. Cash or prize donations can be mailed to the high school, P.O. Box 70, Hayden, CO 81639.
The committee also is looking for volunteers to work the after-prom party. For more information about volunteering or donating prizes, call Alice at 276-3957 or Tammy at 276-4728.
Deadline for tree-sale orders approaching
The Steamboat Springs Middle School’s annual tree sale is under way. The tree sale and fundraiser promotes Earth Day and raises money for a variety of educational programs and needs, including textbooks, outdoor activities and science camp tuition. Tree and plant orders must be made by April 30. Trees and plants will be available for pickup May 5. Call Jeff Keller at 871-3534 for ordering information.
