City offers updates on local construction projects
Construction efforts on Yampa Street for the upcoming week will focus on the Yampa River Core Trail and concrete curb and gutter work near the Ambulance Barn and between 10th and 11th streets, according to a news release from the city. The Core Trail in this area will be closed during this time, and trail users will be safely routed around the work zone.
All businesses will remain open and accessible during construction, which is expected to be compete by Nov. 1.
Following the Labor Day holiday, the public parking lot at Ninth and Yampa streets near Backdoor Sports is expected to close for approximately one month as crews work to reconstruct the parking lot and install a water quality device.
U.S. 40/Elk River Road
The section of Elk River Road running south between U.S. Highway 40 and Curve Plaza remains closed. Travelers are asked to use Shield Drive and Curve Court as a detour.
The intersection is expected to be fully closed from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 to 6 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 30 to prepare for re-opening of the section of Elk River Road south of the intersection.
The speed limit through the work zone is 25 mph.

Emerald Park access
Access to the Hampton Inn remains limited to the northern approach until the middle of September. Detour signs are in place to direct motorists accordingly. Work progress over the past week included site grading and utility coordination.
For the coming week construction effort will include site grading, roadway embankment, utility coordination and installation of drainage improvements.
