City hosts meeting to discuss sidewalk improvements along US 40

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A busy stretch of U.S. Highway 40 is being readied for new sidewalks to assist pedestrians and bicyclists and increase their safety. The city of Steamboat Springs will host a public open house to discuss the project from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Steamboat Springs Community Center, 1605 Lincoln Ave.

The project will install an eight-foot sidewalk along the southeast side of U.S. 40 running from the Community Center to Loggers Lane and on the north side of U.S. 40 from Indian Trails to Conestoga Circle. In addition, traffic signals at the current access to the community and transit centers are proposed to move to the Indian Trails and U.S.40 intersection under the plan.
