City accepting applications for new parks and rec funding committee

The city of Steamboat Springs is looking for both city and county residents to serve on a new committee that will study alternative funding sources for the region’s parks and recreation amenities.

Applications for the committee will be accepted through Thursday, May 20.

The committee will include two of the city’s parks and recreation commissioners, a Steamboat Springs City Council member and some community members from the city and the county.

The Parks and Recreation Commission proposed the working group because it believes parks and rec amenities are not being adequately funded and improved by the city’s general fund.

Committee members are likely to spend at least six months studying alternative funding sources.

Applications are available at City Hall or online at http://www.steamboatsprings.net.
