Chuck McConnell: Trump will make America great again
Donald J. Trump, the 2016 Republican candidate for president of the United States, is the first non-political business man to run for the presidency for a major party in anyone’s memory
He enters the race free from a pile of favors owed for past elections. He is not shackled by obligations to special interest groups. He will reverse the crippling economic handicaps of the past eight years and unleash resourceful American entrepreneurs and workers. This will provide good jobs and revive our economy, which is now trapped in a morass of overregulation and government bureaucracy.
America’s health care is a mess. Since the passage of Obamacare, premiums have increased at double-digit rates, deductibles are out of sight for all but the highest earners and one-size–fits-all coverage makes no sense. The promised numbers of Americans to be covered was not reached.
Mr. Trump believes Americans deserve better. He believes Obamacare must be repealed and replaced with a patient-centered health care system. The doctor-patient relationship must be preserved without central government interference.
America must have security and integrity of its borders. Even Europe, which has tried the open border experiment for 30 years, is calling for its end. Deadly terrorist attacks in France and Belgium are testimony for secure borders.
America’s southern border is porous even with the dedicated work of thousands of Border Agents. Our southern frontier is a source of thousands of tons of illegal drugs and the threat of terrorists.
Donald Trump will fight for security of our border with additional agents, a wall where feasible and state-of-the-art electronic surveillance where practical. This wall will have a “door” to allow legal, documented immigration.
Energy independence for North America is critical to American economic stability. Our current dependence on oil from unfriendly countries is unacceptable.
Mr. Trump’s opponent has declared she will place restrictions on fracking for oil and gas that will all but end this technological wonder that has moved the U.S. the closest to energy independence in generations. The fracking revolution has created thousands of high-paying jobs and will continue if allowed.
She has also said she will not allow building of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would bring crude oil from our neighbor, Canada. Donald Trump will encourage fracking as well the Keystone XL line. He believes in all forms of energy produced under common sense regulations that preserve our environment and continue America’s march to energy independence.
Coal is one of those energy sources that serves our country well providing about 40 percent of our electric generation. Coal is critical to the economies of several regions of the U.S. including Northwest Colorado.
Trump’s opponent has declared that, “We are going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.” This is a declaration of her war on the fuel that powers our computers, cell phones and electric cars. Donald Trump believes coal is important to our economy with its jobs and low-cost electricity.
Trump knows how to create jobs. He has created tens of thousands of jobs. He will apply his business skills and common sense that took his company to one of the top in the US. He will restore our prosperity that has been nearly non-existent over the past eight years.
To accomplish his policy agenda, Trump knows that things have to change in Washington, D.C. He knows that our neglected, ignored and abandoned people who are courted by his opponent then forgotten after the election must be represented. He believes that the American people must come first. He believes that wasted government spending that could bring needed services to the underserved among us has to stop.
Donald J. Trump has the skills to bring back economic vitality, jobs and prosperity. He can and will make America great again. Please vote for Trump for president.
