Trick-or-treaters could be treated to rain showers Monday, as a weather system coming in from the Pacific passes through the area.

The National Weather Service on Sunday was forecasting a 40 percent chance of showers Monday, with a daytime high of 55 degrees.

Snow levels Monday are unlikely to drop low enough to bring any snowfall to Steamboat Springs, with levels expected to remain above 9,500 feet, according to Norv Larson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Grand Junction office.

“The snow levels, I think they’re going to be pretty high,” Larson said.

The unsettled weather was expected to affect the mountains east of Steamboat Springs Monday afternoon, then dissipate by Monday night.

On Tuesday, another weak disturbance will come through the area, bringing a slight chance of scattered showers. The daytime high temperature Tuesday is expected to reach 56.

The weather is then expected to clear and remain mild for the rest of the week.

“For Wednesday and beyond it looks pretty quiet,” Larson said. “We’ve got a ridge building over the area, and we’ll see some dry mild weather for the remainder of the coming week.”

Larson said daytime temperatures are forecast to stay in the mid-50s through Wednesday and warm to 60 degrees by Thursday. Overnight lows through the week are forecast to be about freezing or slightly below, he said.
