Central Park Drive detours and bus route changes start soon
April 18, 2016
Steamboat Springs — Here we go.
Drivers and bus riders will soon begin to see detours and traffic impacts at one of the city’s busiest shopping centers as crews with Connell Resources kick off the major road work project at Central Park Drive.
On Wednesday, the bus stops in the middle of Central Park Plaza and on the mountain-bound side of Wildhorse Marketplace will be closed for the duration of the project.
Temporary bus stops will be added at Pine Grove Road for access to and from the shopping center.
This week, Connell reports drivers will see only light construction activity as crews set the stage for the first phase of the project, which includes the installation of new sidewalks, crosswalks and a roundabout near the entrance of City Market.
But beginning April 25, drivers will need to access the shopping center via Mount Werner Road or Snapdragon Way, because Central Park will be closed from its intersection with Pine Grove Road to the entrance of Anytime Fitness.

The failing asphalt on Snapdragon was recently removed to make that detour — previously pocked by numerous potholes — a less bumpy and jarring experience.
The work planned at Central Park this month includes the installation of underground storm sewer pipes and inlets, the replacement of old concrete and asphalt and landscaping and irrigation work.
Access to all businesses in Central Park Plaza will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Work hours will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Some weekend work may also be required.
Residents who want to receive regular updates on the project can email email@example.com.
The contractor will also hold a public meeting every two weeks during the course of the project to keep the community updated on the work schedule and impacts.
The first update meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 27 in the Emerald Conference Room of the Resort Group Building on Resort Drive.
