The Killers

Steamboat Springs — “Sawdust” — “Sawdust”

— “Sawdust”

There wasn’t much of a reason for The Killers to release “Sawdust,” a collection of B-sides and covers. And for the most part, it’s easy to see why these songs didn’t make it to the band’s first two albums – a weakness that’s illustrated best in the disc’s last two tracks.

There’s a cover of Dire Straits’ “Romeo And Juliet” that doesn’t come anywhere close to that song’s overdone drama.

And there’s a Jacques Lucont remix of the hit “Mr. Brightside.” As a final cut, it makes a point of the electro influence that made that song so catchy, and reminds Killers fans why they liked the band’s first two CDs, and why they’re probably waiting for a more mature third.
