Carol Ward: Keep districts

I want to point out to the voters who are considering voting for Referendum 3A, which would change all Steamboat Springs School Board seats to at-large seats, that if this referendum passes, it is very unlikely that outlying areas will be represented on future school boards simply due to the number of voters within the city limits of Steamboat.

A good analogy would be if we did away with states and simply voted for U.S. senators from the country at-large. We would end up with senators from the high population centers and the rest of us could go pound sand.

There is a good reason for having voting districts in the first place. Don’t change this system for a worse one.
