Captain of the Boat kicks off

— Marco Ross-Bryant proved the captain, at least for one week, Thursday evening as the Captain of the Boat downhill mountain bike race series kicked off at Steamboat Ski Area in Steamboat Springs.

Ross-Bryant mastered the course in 3 minutes, 55.21 seconds. Donald Nyquist was second in 3:57.73, and Nate Bowman third at 3:58.46.

Yvonne Delaunty was the one woman’s racer, finishing in 4:12.15. Noah Townsend won the 17 and under class in 4:09.45, and Chris Fruth won the masters class in 4:08.58.

The series returns at 6 p.m. Thursday for its second of five races this summer.
