Navigator Awards plan to celebrate business leaders with an evening of entertainment
August 31, 2015
Steamboat Springs — Nominations are open for the annual Navigator Awards recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of outstanding members of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
Hosted by the Chamber and the Steamboat Pilot & Today, the 2015 Navigators will be held Nov. 6 at Strings Music Pavilion and will recognize a "Business Person of the Year," "Business of the Year" and "Young Professional of the Year."
The 2014 awards presentation was memorable as celebrated Nashville session guitarist and record producer Brent Rowan, a longtime Steamboat resident, hosted country star Joe Nichols in an intimate acoustic performance. The entertainment committee is in pursuit of another name entertainer for 2015.
Chamber Events and Member Relations Manager Maren McCutchan said Monday the goal is to build upon last year's success and create the expectation among the members of the business community that the Navigator Awards will continue to be a memorable experience.
"We're trying to get someone that people will be blown away by," she said. "I don't know if it will be a superstar like Joe Nichols, but we're trying."
Ed MacArthur was named Business Person of the Year in 2014, and Yampa Valley Medical Center was selected as the Business of the Year. Sarah Fox, of Fox Construction, received the Young Professional of the Year award.
