Cattlemen expand Web site for kids

Recognizing the relationship today’s kids have with their computers, Routt County beef producers are funding an expanded Web site aimed at the younger generation.

Through the $1-per-head beef checkoff program, the producers are helping to support http://www.burgertown.com, which reaches children 8 to 12 with games, cooking tips, recipes and nutrition information about beef.

Two new games have recently been added to the “Arcade” section of the site, giving kids even more opportunities to learn about America’s most popular meat.

“Almost half of all kids are expected to be online by 2002 and 76 percent of U.S. schools are already there,” says Fred Lombardi, Executive Director of the Colorado Beef Council. “These young people play an important role in the future of the beef industry.”

Frontier Airlines adds two Airbuses

DENVER (AP) Frontier Airlines has acquired two Airbus 319 planes as it works to convert to a fleet made entirely of planes made by the European consortium Airbus.

As of Friday, the Denver-based carrier had 24 Boeings and five Airbuses. Frontier has cut flights by about 20 percent in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, but Chief Operating Officer Jeff Potter said Frontier would continue converting to an all-Airbus fleet.

Also, Frontier received its first relief payment as part of the government’s airline industry bailout. Frontier received $10.1 million.
