Business file: Sports gear consignment store opens this morning

— The grand opening for Boomerang Sports Exchange, a sports gear consignment store in downtown Steamboat Springs, is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The store will raffle off items and collect used bikes for the Giving Bikes Back program.

The store is in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue, across from Little Toots Park. Boomerang Sports Exchange will accept and sell team sports equipment, dirt-bike apparel, climbing gear, kayaks, rollerblades, skis, ice skates and more.

The store will research market values, determine a price and sell items for 75 days. Consignors — those who bring in items to be sold — will receive 50 percent of the sale price in cash or a 60 percent credit in the store. Call 970-870-3050 or e-mail

E-mail marketing lesson on Tuesday at Rex's

Zak Barron, regional development director for Constant Contact, leads a seminar about e-mail marketing from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Rex's American Grill & Bar. The cost is $10.

Barron will talk about the basics of e-mail marketing and how to incorporate it into business planning, achieve measurable benefits and more.

Chief Plaza Theater plans to be presented

Friends of the Chief, a nonprofit organization formed to purchase the Chief Plaza Theater and renovate it into a single-stage performing arts venue and cultural center in downtown Steamboat, will present its plans from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Centennial Hall on 10th Street.

The group has said the new cultural center could focus on performing arts, films and traveling acts. All are welcome. A Q-and-A session will follow the presentation.
