Steamboat jeweler named Registered Jeweler

Shirl Cox, of Hofmeister Personal Jewelers in Steamboat Springs, has been awarded the title of Registered Jeweler by the American Gem Society. By earning the prestigious title, Cox has demonstrated knowledge and experience in the jewelry industry.

AGS President Craig Underwood said, “I want to congratulate Shirl for achieving a level of skill reached by only some 1,400 jewelers throughout the United States and Canada. They have qualified as a Registered Jeweler by having a personal desire to increase their knowledge of gemology, and through their AGS member store subscribing to ethical business principles set down by the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau and the Society’s own code of standards.”

Billie Ackerman and Chip BeeBee formed Bottom Time Divers and bought the Steamboat storefront from its former owners. Customers can find expanded apparel options and larger inventory under the new ownership, as well as a new saltwater fish tank in the store.

Ackerman and BeeBee eventually plan to expand to a larger location in town, hopefully with the addition of an in-store pool.
