Cook Chevrolet wins Subaru honor

Cook Chevrolet has won the Subaru of America trophy for the first and second quarters of 2001 for its district.

One trophy was awarded each quarter to a company for the best service and sales customer satisfaction.

Plan ahead for college costs

DENVER September is College Savings Month and the Financial Planning Association of Colorado is encouraging families to plan ahead for the cost of college attendance.

The observance is designed to spotlight the new state college savings plans which will be available soon.

In Colorado, contributions to the state-sponsored CollegeInvest college savings plans are state income tax-deductible and earnings growth is income tax-free in Colorado when used for higher education.

Beginning Jan. 2, earnings growth in these plans also will be free from federal income taxes when used for higher education.

There are two types of college savings plans prepaid tuition and savings plans.

A prepaid tuition plan enables families to purchase tomorrow’s tuition at today’s prices while savings plans allow participants to invest their college savings in the potential growth of the stock and bond markets.

Mountain estate to be auctioned

A mountain estate will be auctioned at 1 p.m. Sept. 20 by The National Auction Group, Inc. of Gadsden, Ala.

The estate includes a 5,860-square foot cedar log home, 10 acres of Aspens and a large meadow and pond.

The property overlooks Strawberry Park and Howelsen Hill.

The mountain estate is open to inspection by appointment.
