Mayfield joins SolVista Ranch

Ski industry veteran Charlie Mayfield of Steamboat Springs recently accepted the position of vice president of operations and marketing for SolVista Golf and Ski Ranch near Granby.

SolVista was previously known as Silver Creek.

Mayfield was released from his position as vice president of marketing and communications at Colorado Ski Country USA this spring. Before that, he spent 24 years of his career at the Steamboat Ski Area, where he was vice president of marketing.

In his new position, Mayfield will oversee all of SolVista’s business operations including the ski area , golf course, SolVista Marina at Grand Lake, SolVista Reservation and Travel, SolVista Properties and the Berthoud Pass ski area.

SolVista is a year round resort located two miles south of Granby on U.S. 40.

Cunniffe Architects opens local branch

The architectural firm of Charles Cunniffe Architects announced the recent opening of a new branch office in Steamboat Springs.

The new office is at 1901 Pine Grove Road in the Alpine Bank building. Founded in 1981, Charles Cunniffe Architects currently has offices in Aspen, Carbondale, Vail and Telluride.

Keith Kelly and Brandt Vanderbosch, formerly of CCA Vail, will head the Steamboat office and have already begun a number of projects in the area.

A private residence in the Lake Catamount area is well under way. And there are a number of other private residences, an office building and other community-minded commercial projects in the works.

“We are very enthused by how warmly we’ve been received by the real estate and development community in Steamboat Springs,” Cunniffe said.

Meyer represents Monarch in sale

Kathi Meyer of Steamboat Springs is the broker for Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area, which recently went under contract.

Ski Monarch LLC announced this week plans to sell the ski area to a limited liability company made up of Colorado investors.

Monarch is located on Monarch Pass between Salida and Gunnison, in the southern Colorado Rockies. Among the prospective buyers are the resort’s current general manager, Richard Moorehead, and chief financial officer Melissa Goforth.

The purchasing group will conduct its due diligence this summer with the closing anticipated this fall, Meyer said. She did not disclose further details of the transaction.

Prudential receives top sales honor

Prudential Steamboat Realty was awarded first place for the “Top Dollar Sales Production” award for the Central Region of The Prudential Real Estate Network.

The award is presented quarterly to the top three Prudential Real Estate offices in each region with the highest residential sales volume.

The Central Region comprises 16 states with 281 offices. The award was presented to Cameron Boyd and Pamela Vanatta, co-owners of Prudential Steamboat Realty.

Colorado Group hires Thompson

Colorado Group Realty has hired Lori Thompson, formerly with Century 21 Ski Town Associates.

Thompson has lived in Steamboat Springs since 1982, and after having two children began a teaching career as director of a local preschool. She taught at the Christian Heritage School from 1987 until earlier this year, when she decided to make a full-time commitment to real estate sales.

Thompson is based at the downtown office of Colorado Group Realty across from the Routt County Courthouse at 509 Lincoln Ave.

Montgomery Watson acquires Chile firm

Montgomery Watson Mining Group, a subsidiary of Montgomery Watson, Inc., announced it has acquired Ingenieros Geotecnicos Limitada (IGL), a full-service geotechnical firm located in Santiago, Chile.

In business for less than a decade, IGL provides design, survey and construction services to blue chip mining companies such as BHP Escondida; CODELCO Chile Division’s El Teniente, Chuquicamata, Salvador and Andina Mines, and Barrick Gold Corporation.

Alan Krause, Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for Montgomery Watson Americas Mining Group said, “The experience and expertise of the IGL engineering team further strengthens our rapidly growing Chilean mining operations, thereby expanding services and opportunities to our clients.

“We are pleased to have them join our engineering team.”
