VNA offering free children’s immunizations at clinic

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free immunizations to children younger than 5 who are in need of DTaP, MMR, Hepatitis A, B, HIB, Prevnar, Polio, Rotavirus and flu vaccines.

The drop-in clinic is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the South Routt Community Center in Oak Creek. Parents must take their children’s immunization records.

Vaccinations are important to protect toddlers from whooping cough (pertussis). Children need five DTaP immunizations to be fully protected against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. The fourth dose, given between 15 months and 18 months, is the one most often missed.

Immunizations are safe and effective, and they save lives. Children are not fully protected until they receive all of their vaccinations. Protect your child by immunizing him or her on time. Call the VNA at 879-1632 for more information.
