Teen School Days Off head to Six Flags Friday

The city of Steamboat Springs’ Teen Programs has developed a new program for middle school students.

Teen School Days Off, or TSDO, will be held on the Fridays during the 2006-07 school year during which school is not in session. The program aims to meet the needs of middle school students and their families. TSDO kicks off Sept. 1, when participating sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders will travel to Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver.

There will be one Teen Programs staff member for every 10 participants. The kids will take the city’s Recreation Activity Bus. The cost is $35 and includes transportation, admission to the amusement park and dinner. Participants must bring a sack lunch. Space is limited to 30 participants and is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration packets are available at Parks and Recreation offices, 245 Howelsen Parkway. Completed registration forms must be submitted with the $35 registration fee before 5 p.m. Aug. 25. For more information, call Brooke Lightner at 879-4300 or e-mail blightner@steamboatsprings.net.
