Hunter education course begins Sept. 20 in Hayden

A hunter education course will be offered at the Hayden High School media room from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 to 24. The cost is $5. Call 276-3338.

Community blood drive to be held Sept. 16 at YVMC

A community blood drive will be from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 870-1495.

Botanic park looking for artists, photographers

The Yampa River Botanic Park board is looking for artists and photographers who have used the botanic park as the subject of their work. The board would like to showcase their art and photographs during its annual meeting, giving the artists a free venue to display or sell their pieces. The annual meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4 in Olympian Hall. Call 879-6138 by Friday.

Annual Rubber Ducky race planned for Sept. 17

The 17th annual Rubber Ducky Race will be Sept. 18 on the Yampa River between Fifth and 13th streets. This year’s event will raise money to help create a healing environment at the Cancer Chemotherapy and Infusion area at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Tickets will be sold at City Market and Safeway beginning Friday.

Applications are accepted for dance scholarships

Steamboat Dance Theatre is soliciting applications for its dance scholarship program. Scholarships are available on a confidential, financial-need basis to students of any local dance teacher. Awards range from $25 to $300, depending on availability of funds. Applications are accepted from instructors, students or parents; students or parents first should speak to their instructors, mail requests to Steamboat Dance Theatre at P.O. Box 774284, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, or fax a request to 879-9667. Funds may be available on an ongoing basis.

Hayden seeks donated children’s bike helmets

The town of Hayden Recreation Department is sponsoring adult coed volleyball. Anyone interested in signing up a team or playing on a team may call Lindsay at 276-3741. Games will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the Hayden High School gym. The league runs from Sept. 15 to Nov. 3. Cost is $16 per player. Last day for registration is Friday. Referees and child care providers are needed.
