Wooden Ski Rendezvous set for 9 a.m. March 13
The Wooden Ski Rendezvous and membership drive for Friends of the Routt Backcountry, a nonprofit group representing nonmotorized backcountry users, begins at 9 a.m. March 13 at the Columbine Cabins at the base of Hahn’s Peak. Events include a pine-tarring clinic, retro ski costume event, races and lunch. Call 879-4947.
Career and Educational Expo held at high school
Steamboat Springs High School hosts the Career and Educational Expo from 1 to 5 p.m. March 15 in the high school commons area. About 20 community colleges, trade and technical schools and educational institutions from Colorado and Wyoming will be present to talk to students and parents. Hayden library hosting scholastic book fair
The Hayden Public Library will hold a scholastic book fair through Tuesday. The fair is open during the library’s regular business hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. All proceeds will benefit the library’s children’s section.

Sign up for 23rd annual writers conference
The 23rd annual writers conference, hosted by Steamboat Springs Arts Council affiliate Steamboat Writers Group, will by from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17. The conference will feature seminars with award-winning science-fiction writer Connie Willis and nationally recognized poet David Mason. The cost is $45 and covers four workshops and the luncheon. Children’s health fairs
held throughout March
Free children’s health fairs will be held throughout Routt County during March. The events, open to children 4 months to 5 years old, are an interagency effort to promote good health. Vision, hearing, language, physical and thinking-skills screenings will be provided.
The first fair is Monday and Tuesday in South Routt. To make an appointment, call 736-2313.
The second fair is March 15 and 16 in Steamboat Springs; call 879-0391 to make an appointment.
The final fair is March 18 and 19 in Hayden. Call 276-3756 to make an appointment.
Register for Teens on Tour overnight trip to Denver
The city of Steamboat Springs Teen Programs is accepting registrations for a Teens on Tour overnight trip to Denver on March 12 and 13 for sixth- through eighth-grade students. Activities planned include swimming, putt putt golf, ping-pong, dinner at Casa Bonita, skateboarding at EXPN skate park and shopping at the mall.
Teen Programs staff will supervise the trip, and participants will be traveling on the City of Steamboat Springs Recreation Activity Bus. The weekend begins at 10 a.m. Friday and the group will return to Steamboat at 7 p.m. March 13.
Cost for the trip is $50 and includes dinner Friday night, lodging, breakfast and lunch Saturday, transportation and all activities.
