Scholastic book fair starts Monday at Soda Creek
Soda Creek Elementary School hosts a scholastic book fair Monday through March 12. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Park and Recreation offers trip to Denver museum
The Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Department’s School Days Off Program is sponsoring a trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on April 22.
The trip is for students in third through fifth grades. Participants will tour the museum, see the IMAX movie, “Coral Reef Adventure,” and experience the Inca retreat of Machu Picchu, one of the museum’s newest exhibits.
The cost of the trip is $40 and includes the 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. trip, admission to the museum and two snacks. Students must bring their own lunches.
Space is limited. Register by April 14 at the Parks and Recreation Office. Call Jennifer at 879-4300.
Fund-raiser for Heuga’s Snow Express is Saturday
A fund-raiser for the Jimmie Heuga Snow Express is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Glen Eden Resort in Clark. The event includes a silent auction, entertainment by Steamboat’s Humble Pickers and mystery door prizes.
Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the door. For more information or to donate items for the auction, call 879-3907.
Shabbat service, Oneg is Friday with Rabbi Goldman
Har Mishpachat and Rabbi Joseph Goldman will host a Shabbat service followed by an Oneg at 7 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the corner of Steamboat Boulevard and Central Park Drive.
On Saturday morning, there will be a Shabbat service followed by skiing with Rabbi Goldman at 10 a.m. Participants should meet near the top of Thunderhead at the interdenominational services site by the Ragnar’s sleighs.
Gary and Carol Berman will host a Torah discussion at 7 p.m. Saturday at 2340 AprÃs Ski Way, Chateau Chamonix No. 315.
Finally, there will be a Purim Party from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center. All are welcome to attend the potluck meal and hamantashen bake-off. Come in costume. Call 870-0459.
Strings presents Tim Piper and band March 26
Strings in the Mountains presents Tim Piper and his band at 8 p.m. March 26 at the Steamboat Christian Center. Piper portrays The Beatles’ music in the style and sound of the original recordings.
