Construction continues on Colorado Highway 131

Construction to repair a concrete and steel girder bridge on Colorado Highway 131 in Oak Creek is scheduled to begin Wednesday (Aug. 2), Colorado Department of Transportation officials said Wednesday.

CDOT and Castle Rock-based contractor Tricon 2 is scheduled to repair the sidewalk, rail, abutments and piers on the bridge near mile marker 51 on Colo. 131, about 20 miles south of Steamboat Springs. A temporary signal will direct single-lane, alternating traffic over the bridge until the work is completed in mid-September.

Nurse Association offers Rotavirus vaccine

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering the newly available Rotavirus vaccine. Rotavirus infects children between six and 24 months of age and causes three significant symptoms: high fever, vomiting and diarrhea. The vaccine is given by mouth in three separate doses at two, four and six months of age. The vaccine cannot be given outside of this age range. Children’s vaccines are given on a sliding fee scale, and no child will be refused a vaccine because of an inability to pay. Call 879-1632 to make an appointment for your infant.
