Perry to teach workshop
Jean Perry is teaching a plein-air painting workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 to 4, during the Beaux Arts Festival. The workshop starts at the Depot Art Center each day, emphasizes the joys and hardships of painting on location and ends with a critique of the students’ work. The cost is $300 a person. Call Nancy Kramer at the Steamboat Springs Arts Council to register, 879-9008.
The Bang Group demos Monday
The contemporary dance company The Bang Group, led by choreographer David Parker, visits Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp for a lecture demonstration at 2:15 p.m. Monday in the Main Studio. Parker will discuss his innovative rhythm-based dance theater and how he draws movement from tap dance, vaudeville, silent film comedy and modern dance into his often humorous choreography. The public is invited to the lecture demonstration, which will include several repertory pieces such as “Slapstick,” a duet for two men dressed neck to ankle in black Velcro suits. Call Perry-Mansfield at 879-7125 to reserve a space.
