Art On The Mountain seeking participants
The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. is hosting the third annual Art On The Mountain in Gondola Square. Remaining dates are July 31, Aug. 1, and Sept. 11. Anyone interested in participating on any of these dates may call 871-5382.
Funds available for
The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project has funds available through the end of the year to help pay for mammograms or breast cancer treatment for women who cannot afford such services. Call 879-1632.
Weather observer sought to volunteer in Steamboat
The National Weather Service is looking for a volunteer weather observer to take and record daily weather readings in Steamboat Springs; specifically, in the area to the northeast of U.S. Highway 40 at an elevation of about 6,770 feet.
The volunteer will be supplied with a digital thermometer to record high and low temperatures, and a rain gauge to record rain. Snow measurements also are needed. The observations will continue the official records, which began in 1891.

Artits sought for Beaux Arts Festival Strada D’Arte
The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is calling for artists to participate in the Strada D’Arte event Aug. 6 and 7. Strada D’Arte is a traditional form of Italian street painting — artists would cover church courtyards with renderings of the Madonna and other religious scenes. For the Beaux Arts Festival, artists will design and decorate a concrete square (either 3-by-3-feet or 6-by-6-feet) using ground pastel chalk. This typically is a full-day project. Chili cooks needed for Mountain Chili Festival
Chili cooks are needed to take part in a chili cookoff from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 31 in Gondola Square as part of the Steamboat Mountain Chili Festival. Prizes include a ski vacation to The Canyons, Utah; dinner for two at The Cabin; and round-trip airline tickets. To enter, call 871-5382.

Winter Sports Club has openings for officials
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has two elected positions open on its board of directors. They are three-year terms and are open to anyone.
Interested candidates should call the Winter Sports Club office to have their names added to the election ballot. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Voting will begin Thursday, and the voting period will close at 5 p.m. July 21. Ballots are available in the Winter Sports Club office, and only Winter Sports Club members may vote. Call 879-0695.
Perry-Mansfield presents two theater performances
Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp presents two theater performances Friday to Sunday.
“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
“The Children’s Hour” shows at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
