Briefs for Jan. 7
Pilot seeking talented teens
The Steamboat Pilot & Today is looking for teen musicians ages 13 to 18 for the second annual Battle of the Bands. Start organizing your bands now for the May event, sponsored by Teen Style and the Steamboat Springs Teen Programs.
Bands will be judged by a panel of five local musicians. Winners will receive recognition in the newspaper, on the radio and with a one-night, all-ages gig at a local music venue.
Battle of the Bands sign up will begin in March. For more information, call Autumn Phillips at 871-4210 or e-mail email@example.com.
Snowboard art competition
A prospectus is available for participants in the third annual “Snowboard Art III” competition, sponsored by Ride Snowboard and ArtLink.
The deadline for entries is Jan. 15. Artists may submit a maximum of two designs, and they must be digital.
Last year’s Best of Show winner, Adam Reitz, pocketed $1,000 and had his artwork printed on a limited-edition run of five Custom Ride snowboards.
The first of the limited edition snowboards was given to Reitz. The others will be auctioned off to raise funds for The Surfrider Foundation’s “Snowrider Project” and ArtLink.
This year’s grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and a one-of-a-kind Ride snowboard featuring the winning artwork. The first runner-up will receive $750 and a pair of Ride bindings. Second runner-up will receive $500 and Ride boots, and third runner-up will receive $250 and a Ride jacket and pant combo.
The top 50 entries will be printed and exhibited locally at Centennial Hall from Feb. 14 to March 18.

Riverhouse Editions, a fine art print workshop and gallery, is open by appointment, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call 871-1559 or 870-8944.
