South Routt looking to fill School Board vacancy

The South Routt School Board is looking for a new member to fill its District 1 vacancy.

Applicants must live in the boundaries of Oak Creek west of Sharp Street, south of Main Street, west of Moffat Avenue and north of Main Street.

The member would serve on the School Board the rest of the term until Nov. 6.

Send letters of interest to School Board President Tim Corrigan, South Routt School District, P.O. Box 158, Oak Creek, CO 80467 by May 1.

Foundation to award charitable organizations

The Craig-Scheckman Foundation will award $50,000 during its May funding cycle. Applications for funding are due Tuesday. The funding is for the foundation’s Youth Advocacy Project for Routt County. Funds will be granted to charitable, tax-exempt organizations that operate programs benefiting special-needs, at-risk or low-income youths in Routt County. Saturday bingo at VFW canceled due to service

Bingo scheduled for Saturday at the VFW has been canceled due to Bill May’s memorial service. The next Bingo at the VFW will be at 7 p.m. May 5.

Historic Properties applications due May 23

Applications for designation to the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due in the County Commissioners Office, second floor of the Courthouse Annex, by May 23. Call Dee Bolton, 879-0108.

Clay Artisans seeking beneficiary of fundraiser

The Steamboat Clay Artisans are looking for a local nonprofit organization that would like to be the beneficiary of this year’s Soup Bowl Supper. The annual fall fundraiser has raised more than $32,000 for local nonprofit groups during the past five years. Past recipients include LIFT-UP of Routt County, Yampa Valley Recycles, Northwest Animal Assistance League and Historic Routt County.

To be considered as the beneficiary for this year’s event, submit a letter of interest by May 1 that states the name and purpose of your organization, how you would use the proceeds and the extent of volunteer assistance your organization would provide. Letters should be sent to SCA, P.O. Box 882111, Steamboat Springs, CO 80488. A decision will be announced in mid-May.

Tread of Pioneers Museum to re-open May 1

The Tread of Pioneers Museum will re-open May 1. The museum’s operating hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
