Woman suffers injuries in bicycle accident

A woman sustained minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when she ran into a fallen tree on Routt County Road 129 while riding her bicycle.

Steamboat Springs Assistant Fire Chief Bob Struble said the woman was riding her bike near Cullen’s Corner when a tree fell across the road in front of her.

“My understanding is that she rounded a corner and it happened so fast that she didn’t have a chance to avoid (the tree) before she went over her handlebars,” he said.

The woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Struble said.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, he said.

The woman’s name and hospital condition was not available Wednesday afternoon.

El Pomar Youth selling homecoming corsages

The Steamboat Springs High School chapter of El Pomar Youth in Community Service is pre-selling homecoming corsages (previously known as “football mums”). The corsages cost $8 and are red and white with two carnations. The local EPYCS club must raise $500 to receive a $7,500 matching grant. That $8,000 will then be re-granted to local nonprofit organizations. Call 879-1562 to place an order or for more information.
