Boys soccer plays Moffat today

— The Steamboat Springs boys soccer team takes its first step toward reclaiming the Western Slope League championship today against Moffat County in Craig.

The Sailors begin league play against the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at Loudy-Simpson field. The JV game will follow at 5:30 p.m.

Steamboat enters today’s game against Moffat County at 3-0 overall, after a championship showing in the Alexander Dawson Tournament near Boulder on Aug. 28-30.

Moffat County is 1-2 overall. Last year marked the first time the Bulldogs defeated the Sailors in varsity soccer.

Steamboat was scheduled to open the league season Sept. 11 against Delta County, but changes were made to the two teams’ schedules to allow each school to make one long road trip this season instead of two.

Steamboat will host Delta County at 4 p.m. Sept. 12, travel to Palisade on Sept. 25 and play Delta County in Cedaredge on Sept. 27.
