Bobby j. wood:1920–2006

Former Steamboat Springs resident Bobby J. Wood died Dec. 13, 2005, in Dalton, Mass. He was 85.

Bobby was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Louisburg, Kan., to Harry C. and Flora Young Wood. He graduated from Olathe High School in Olathe.

He and his wife, the former Opal S. Dorr, were married June 14, 1946.



He moved from Colorado to Dalton, Mass., in 2003 with his wife.

Bobby was stationed in England during World War II, when he served in the U.S. Army.



He was employed by the Adolph Coors Co. in Golden for 22 years. He retired in 1982. Prior to that he was employed by the Rural Electric Association in Steamboat Springs.

He was a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows and the Golden Rebecca Lodge. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Opal; a son, Darrel E. Wood of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Arlena Wood of Dalton, Mass.; three sisters, June Peterson of Brentwood, Tenn., Elizabeth Anderson of Salinas, Calif., and Peggy Wood of Rifle; two brothers, Jack Wood of Rifle and Mark Wood of Clifton; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the home of his beloved sister-in-law, Eunice Dorr, 1420 Park Court, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.
