Board of Realtors names new officers

— Allison Kusy has purchased a house and two condominiums in the past five years, and each time, she has worked with Realtor Wendy Fisher of Anchor Realty.

“She’s friendly and easy to work with,” Kusy said. “She responds promptly. She’s able to find the property I’m looking for, and she consistently keeps me up to date.”

Fisher’s hard work and dedication to the real estate business has not only been observed by her clients, but also by her colleagues. She was given the Realtor of the Year Award on Sept. 12 by the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors.

Previous recipients of the award selected Fisher because “she personifies the Realtor image and spirit in the community — not only the town community, but the Realtor community,” said Jody Scott, the board’s association executive.

Wendy is an active member at the Board of Realtors’ city and state levels, Scott said, and she is known for her civic activities, such as working with Routt County 4-H.

Also honored at the Sept. 12 awards banquet was Stan Urban of Land Title Guarantee Company. Urban was named Affiliate Partner of the Year, an honor given to a contributing member of the real estate business, such as a contractor, or in Urban’s case, a title insurance provider.

“I was totally surprised,” Urban said. “I’ve only been here three years, so I was shocked and, honestly, I got choked up a little bit.”

Urban has worked in the title business for 13 years, and was recognized at the awards banquet for his outstanding volunteer participation in several board and community events.

He is part of the Routt County Habitat for Humanity Board and he volunteers time providing educational seminars about the title insurance business to Board of Realtors members. This year, he was instrumental in obtaining advertising money for the board’s 28th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, Scott said.

The tournament raised $8,500, and with other fund-raisers, the board raised $21,000 for 21 high school scholarships, making the Board of Realtors the largest scholarship donor in Routt County this year.

Fisher also was named as the 2004 president of the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors, sworn in by National Association of Realtors Director Dennis Johnson, who also swore in new 2004 officers and directors.

Those accepting officer positions included Doug Labor (Buyers Resource Real Estate) as president-elect, Chuck Armbruster (Century 21 Ski Town Associates) as vice-president, Dennis Kuntz (Exceptional Properties LLC) as treasurer, Jill Limberg (Steamboat Mountain Properties) as Colorado association director, and Randall Hannaway (Colorado Group Realty), immediate past president.

They join 2004 Board members Vicky Baldinger (Steamboat Village Brokers), Amy Stonitsch (RE/MAX Steamboat Ltd.), Karen Hughes (Prudential Steamboat Realty), Dennis O’Connor (Lincoln Avenue Realty), Becky Ferguson (Mason and Morse Real Estate).

The Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors has 275 members, all of whom also are members of the national Board of Realtors, which has almost 1 million members.

The mission of the Board of Realtors is to educate Realtors to help them increase their professionalism, skills and business savvy, better understand ethics, increase community involvement and enhance the public’s awareness and confidence in Realtors, Scott said.
