Board approves alcohol sales

Upgrades to cable TV, Internet to be complete by early September

— The Hayden Kum & Go can continue to sell beer, Hayden Town Board members ruled Thursday night.

Also, the Town Board will allow alcohol to be consumed at a beer and wine judging event during the Routt County Fair in August.

The Town Board also heard an update from Bresnan Communications about upgrades to Internet, cable TV and telephone service.

The beer license renewal consent item for Kum & Go allows the convenience store to sell beer for another year.

Hayden Police Chief Jody Lenahan reported there have been no issues surrounding the sale of alcohol at the store.

He said police officers will continue to conduct compliance checks to make sure alcohol is being sold only to legal buyers.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, Bresnan Communications general manager Tommy Cotton told Town Board members that there still is a mile of cable that needs to be laid and equipment that needs to be installed before service is upgraded.

“Presently we are probably looking at the middle of August to the first of September,” Cotton said about an expected completion date.

The upgrades are supposed to expand services to include cable Internet, more cable TV channels and the addition of phone service.
