They might think twice

— “Lawyering up” costs a couple of thousand bucks. That’s a sure and certain cost for the parents no matter how the case comes out. The money may not be a problem for some parents, but others may think twice about allowing misbehavior in the future once it costs them a couple of rent payments.

Fund Board funding

I believe one very simple way of dividing funds would be basic math. The total enrollment of each district as a percentage of the whole. Obviously, this will have to work on an ongoing basis and can’t be expected to be totally equitable from the get-go.

Equal contributions

How about the other districts raise funds in their own communities equal to a half-cent tax on sales in those districts and contribute it to the fund and then ask for funds?

How about moving to Steamboat and paying Steamboat’s cost of living if you want the benefit of being in this district?

Better yet, combine the three districts and get rid of overlapping programs and administrative costs. There are school districts that have more students than Routt County has people. Why have three districts at all?

Mourning deaths

The Board of Directors and the staff of the Yampa Valley Autism Program mourn the passing of the Joe and Suzette. Our thoughts and prayers are with Holly and her family as they face this terrible loss. The Brumleves were more than just involved with this program. They were generous, loving and giving grandparents, and our community has suffered a loss with their passing.
