Best of the Boat veterinary office: Steamboat Veterinary Hospital

Steamboat Veterinary Hospital, voted best vet in this year’s polling, has been around for 65 years, with Dr. Mike Gotchey running it for the past 30.

During that time, he’s seen it all, from loading sick horses into a front loader to routine vaccinations.

“We’re known as the blue collar hospital,” Dr. Gotchey said. “We know that people here are working hard to make ends meet.”

With a great staff, including vets like Dr. Natalia Stiff and partner Dr. Lee Meyring, they handle animals large and small.

“We’re the only mixed animal practice for small and large animals,” adds Dr. Meyring, who often treats cows in a barn connected to the vet hospital on Lincoln Avenue. But it’s the rapport the doctors and their staff have with clients that make the practice so successful.
