To have a flourishing arts community, emerging artists are the backbone.

“As an artist, especially a new one, you’re putting your soul out there,” said Sandra Sherrod, president of Pine Moon Fine Art, winner of this year’s Best Art Gallery. “There has to be a safe place where you can develop your style, grow and flourish.”

This laid the foundation for Pine Moon. Opening in September 2016, the artist-owned and operated gallery at 117 9th St. showcases the works of a bevy of talent.

“These artists have developed an eclectic collection of art that showcases their own unique style — not one style is similar to the other,” Sherrod said.
