Berend strong at Continental Cup events
Steamboat Springs — The U.S. Nordic combined Ski Team’s Continental Cup competitors had their best weekend of 2015 last weekend in Planica, Slovenia, where Ben Berend led the way with a 23rd place finish in the first competition.
Berend jumped to 10th and lost places in the ski portion, but recorded his best finish in a Continental Cup event since last spring. It was also his best result since he sustained an ankle injury and underwent surgery in the fall.
Jasper Good also was strong on the weekend, earning 28th- and 30th-place finishes. The three results, one from Berend and two from Good, earned Continental Cup points, the first finishes to do so this month.
