Benefit for Steamboat resident Mary Stone is Monday
Mary Stone is home in Steamboat Springs, off oxygen for the first time since 2005 and recovering nicely from a double lung transplant in July necessitated by the severity of her cystic fibrosis.
Stone’s friends are planning a chili dinner and live auction with live music from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library to help defray her ongoing medical expenses. There is a suggested donation of $10.
Wild Card will perform danceable music. People who prefer to do so may take their dinner in a go-carton on the way to the football game, for example.
Volunteers will be selling tickets and accepting donations in front of City Market from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, or stop by Heritage Christian School. It’s also possible to donate online through the nonprofit HELPHOPELIVE at http://m.helphopelive.org/campaign/5345.
Stone entered the hospital in April and continues to make bimonthly trips to Denver for checkups. She is going for walks and riding a four-wheeler but cannot be around groups of people or anyone who may be sick.
