Bantam Braves A team improves to 5-1

— The Bantam A Braves added another win to their 5-1 season Saturday when they defeated the Denver Country Club, 5-1.

It didn’t take long for the Braves to get on the Howelsen Ice Arena’s scoreboard. Tanner Grimes started the scoring with an unassisted slap shot in the first period.

Nick Pruett followed in the second period when he scored off an assist from Ryan Brees and Daniel Coloccia. Dusty Atkinson quickly widened the gap in the second period when he put in a goal on an assist from Nate Coram.

In the third period, Coloccia netted a goal on an assist by Pruett and Brad Bonner.

The Denver Country Club got its first and only goal of the game in the third period as it found a hole past goaltender Randy Rule. The Braves came back to finish the game 5-1 when Bonner put in the last goal.

The Bantam travel team will be playing the Foothills team from the Denver area this weekend. Saturday’s game will start at

3:45 p.m. and Sunday’s game will start at 9 a.m.
